Florida Vision Institute is searching for an energetic, patient focused, team oriented, customer service oriented Ophthalmic Assistant/Diagnostic Technician for our multi-specialty ophthalmology practice in Stuart, Florida. Our Top Candidates will have at least one year of either Ophthalmic Assisting or Diagnostic Technician experience.

The Ophthalmic Assistant/DiagnosticTechnician is responsible for providing as well as performing diagnostic tests as required by the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician.


  • Uses autorefractor and lensometers (automatic and manual)
  • Performs visual field tests
  • Performs OCT
  • Performs Cell Count
  • Perform B-scan
  • Perform Orbscan/Pentacam
  • Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing
  • Escorts patients to front desk after exam


  • Ensures that exam rooms are tidied between patients, including cleaning sinks and sanitizing equipment
  • Cleans all lenses used by doctors
    Monitors diagnostic schedule to stay on-time of patient scheduling
  • Billing and Coding is billed and ordered

Essential Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Knowledge of diagnostic equipment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive team member
  • Strong organization with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.
  • Ability to conduct a patient history, check visual acuity, EOM's, perform refraction and confrontation field of vision
  • Ability to applanate and analyze anterior chambe


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years experience in a healthcare setting; ophthalmology preferred
