The Ophthalmic Technician is a vital part of the clinical team and requires the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a diverse patient base. They are responsible for comforting patients while performing necessary diagnostic tests and measurements that instills patient confidence in their treatment

Clinical:

• Perform manual refractions
• Proficient in obtaining comprehensive medical history
• Elicit chief complaint
• Document medication list
• Check pupils, angles, EOM, and dilate patient
• Performs cell count
• Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing

Essential Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
• Zeiss Forum
• Knowledge of Diagnostic Equipment
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
• Positive team member
• Strong organization with attention to detail
• Demonstrated computer literacy.

• Must be able to manually refract patients
• Two years experience as an ophthalmic technician required
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Must be able to expedite patient workups
