Florida Vision Institute is Searching for a Practice Administrator Skilled in Ophthalmology Practice Administration

The Practice Administrator is responsible for recognizing and acting on ways to improve service to patients, support physicians and staff and reach operational, financial, and strategic goals.



• Manages day-to-day operations of the practice and supervises physicians and staff in accordance with company policies and procedures
• Ensures the highest degree of customer service and patient quality care is maintained at all times
• Ensures compliance with standard medical practice to manage and minimize risk
• Serves as the HIPAA compliance manager, reporting any compliance violations or complaints to the Director of Compliance
• Maintains all up to date and proper HR protocols
• Provides management with requested reports
• Maintains physician reputation ratings by responding to patient survey results and comments to improve patient relations
• Serves as a point of contact for referring physicians and physician’s offices that are unable to reach the physicians of the practice
• Continually analyzes office scheduling for improvement of patient services and physician productivity
• Monitors and reports on periodic time study results to assist the physicians and staff in improving patient flow
• Resolves any medical-administrative problems and keeps lines of communication open with staff to ensure high employee morale and a professional, healthful clinic atmosphere
• Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional development to keep current in the latest health care trends and developments
• Develops and maintains rapport and positive relationships with providers
• Meets operational goals set by management



• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Health Administration, nursing or related health care field; or the equivalent in a critical ophthalmic role
• 5+ years of management in ophthalmology or optometric experience required
• Knowledge of principles and practices of health care planning and management
• Proven experience with effective hiring and motivating and managing a team
• Strong staff relations skills
• In depth knowledge of revenue cycle management, third party reimbursement, regulatory issues and compensation plan methodologies
• Working knowledge of NextGen, including building templates
• Demonstrated ability to follow Practice statistics and strategize on ways in which to improve
• Must have the ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when receiving instructions from physicians or others, reading and interpreting procedures and related materials; examining        and closely inspecting materials when using equipment; and working one-on-one with patients
• Leadership qualities, diplomacy, discretion, ability to enforce difficult positions, excellent communication, public speaking skills and exceptional interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
• Excellent internet and related search skills as well as proficient with Microsoft Suite; advanced Excel; Axiom a plus
