Ophthalmic Technician

Ophthalmic Technician Responsibilities:

• Test and measure patient eye function
• Assist Ophthalmologist and Optometrists with tests and treatments
• Assess complete spectrum of ocular problems: cataracts, glaucoma, retina, plastics, trauma and disease
• Measure Acuity
• Take patient history (ocular, medical, family)
• Pupil assessment
• Keratometry measurements
• Refracting
• Color and vision testing
• Schirmer testing
• Lensometry
• Motilities
• Stereo testing
• Amsler Grid testing
• Angle assessment
• Fundus Photography
• Angiography
• Drop Administration
• Pharmaceutical Knowledge
• Stock back offices and clean
• Clean and sterilize instruments
• Prescription refills
• Triage referring doctor questions and needs

The Ophthalmic Technician Qualifications:

• Possess at least one year of experience in a clinical setting.
• Ophthalmic technical education or minimum 5 years of experience preferred.
• Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
• Demonstrate superior computer skills.
• Highly energetic with positive attitude.
• Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
• Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
• Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting.
