Florida Vision Institute has an exciting career opportunity for a qualified Surgical Coordinator in Port St. Lucie


Florida Vision Institute is dedicated to providing state-of the-art , individually based, high quality, eye health care. Our doctors are board-certified , skilled ophthalmologists and optometrist that provide a range of services to help our patients attain the clearest vision possible. Our services cover a range of eye problems , including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, dry eye, and ocular injuries. We have the common goal of ascertaining the most care of any given patient , explaining the purpose of the treatment , and in initiating said therapy in a courteous and compassionate manner, irrespective of age, gender , nationality, and race or payment program.





Clinical Visits:

  • Greet surgery consultations in the office and review the recommendations provided by the surgeon
  • Verify patient information and insurance benefits in our EMR and associated systems
  • Provide patient with an overview of the surgical process, review required paperwork, and review pricing and financing options
  • Schedule any follow up consultation appointments

Surgery Scheduling and Preparation:

  • Schedule surgery and post-operative appointments in accordance with the physician direction and patients’ needs
  • Work with patients’ insurance companies to obtain necessary documents and authorizations to ensure payments for surgical procedures
  • Ensure all required pre-surgical forms and medical clearances are completed, accurate, and uploaded to the appropriate systems prior to surgery
  • Communicate with physician and associated staff regarding any patient questions or concerns prior to surgery
  • Ensure that all required payments are collected prior to surgery
  • Ensure that all data is entered into EMR
  • Verify surgery schedule and prepare surgical charts prior to each surgical date

Post-Surgery Tasks:

  • Gather surgical charts from surgeon
  • Enter surgical charges and make appropriate adjustments to patient accounts in EMR
  • Assist with clinical correspondence between co-managing or referring physicians
  • Ensure patients adhere to scheduled post-operative appointments and medication regimens 

Administrative Tasks:

  • Answering emails and calls in a timely manner
  • Assisting with medical record requests for referring physicians
  • Assist with monthly report generation


  • High School diploma required, College degree preferred
  • Previous surgical coordination experience required. Previous experience in surgical coordination of refractive surgery procedures strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in Ophthamology required
