The benefits administrator position is responsible for being knowledgeable of and answering questions regarding the day-to-day operations of group benefits programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, travel and accident plan, flexible spending plan, retirement plans, etc.). This position provides excellent customer service and designs quality benefits plans. The administrator continually investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration. THe Administrator will also be responsible for the executional general HR functions.


  • Work along side the Director of HR in the administration of healthcare and welfare plans, including medical, dental, vision, FSA, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability, worker's comp, FMLA, COBRA, and 401(k)
  • Document and maintain administrative policies and procedures
  • Coordinate benefits processing - handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident claims, rollover, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing
  • Gather employee data and oversee the processing of monthly billings and reconciliation of invoices for payment of administrative fees for all plans
  • Allocate group health and dental claims monthly and review quarterly
  • Perform plan audits - prepare, collect, and organize data for actuarial assesments. Review data in conjunction with actuarial evaluations.
  • Provide support to internal and external customers - develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company's benefit package
  • Assemble and distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment, and summary plan descriptions
  • Maintain security and safeguard confidential information
  • Perform Quality control and audits of HR programs
  • Evalaute new hire onboarding process
  • Support the department with ad-hoc projects, reports, data analysis, and information requests
  • Document internal processes, training manuals, and controls
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel - Must have a working knowledge of VLookups & Pivot Tables
  • FMLA & worker's comp experience desired
  • Experience with ExponentHR preferred, but not required
  • Benefits administration & 401(k) audit experience required
  • EEO1 reporting experience desired
  • Employee relations experience required
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Effective planning and task prioritization
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail


  • 3-5 years of related benefits or emplyee benefits administration experience
  • Bachelors' degree in Human Resources Management or related field preferred but not required
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP professional designations preferred
