The Surgical Coordinator assumes responsibility and accountability for the patient during all phases of the surgery process. Generates and coordinates the necessary information and arrangements for patient surgery including insurance verification and patient medical clearances. The Ophthalmic Technician will perform a range of duties which include preparing the patient to see Ophthalmologist and/or Optometrist and conduct preliminary exam and captures medical history. In addition, the preparation of examination and treatment rooms, performing basic and routine vision screening examinations, administering eye medications, cleaning, and maintaining ophthalmic instruments and assisting physicians during minor surgical and laser procedures may be required. The Surgical Coordinator assumes responsibility and accountability for the patient during all phases of the surgery process. Generates and coordinates the necessary information and arrangements for patient surgery including insurance verification and patient medical clearances. Uses comprehensive knowledge to supervise the surgery process and acts as a liaison between the ophthalmologist and the patient by being the primary point of contact. The Optometric Technician plays a crucial role by assisting optometrists in providing eye care services to patients.
