    MIDWEST EYE CENTER S.C. was established in 1974. Our staff consists of ophthalmologists, optometrists and opticians with services ranging from basic eye exams to the most sophisticated testing and complicated surgical treatment of eye diseases. Our medical staff holds teaching and research positions in the local universities and our facilities are the state of the art and are at the cutting edge of technology. We have our own surgery and laser center dedicated to eye surgeries only.  In this surgery and laser center we perform a wide range of eye surgeries like no patch, no shot, no stitch cataract surgery; lasik vision correction surgery; laser surgeries for glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy; plastic surgeries and delicate retina and vitreous surgeries.

     

    Our Ophthalmic Technician / Assistants are responsible for the basic patient care and assessment during clinic visits.

    Responsibilities

    • Escorts patients between waiting room and examination areas
    • Take and verify medical / ocular history
    • Ensure patient charts are complete, including verifying the physician has documented what has been prescribe and treatment recommendations
    • Assist physician in clinical examinations
    • Preform testing as order up by physicians
      • visual fields
      • glaucoma screening
      • color discrimination
      • glare testing
      • automatic refractions, as trained
    • May act as scribe during clinical examination to record surgeon's dictation
    • May administer eye drops
    • Educate patients on procedures
    • Ensure all exam rooms are clean and well stocked
    • Return calls to patients and pharmacies as instructed by the physician

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma
    • Certification and/or previous ophthalmic patient care
    • Two years experience in the medical / surgical area
