    The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for the health plan credentialing function for all healthcare professionals employed and ASC’s owned by ESP.  This position reports directly to the Director of Credentialing.  The Credentialing Specialist will actively process applications for initial and re-credentialing with health plans and work closely with the Credentialing Project Coordinator on various project oriented jobs.


    • Create and/or maintain provider’s CAQH file.
    • Initiate enrollment and prepare required applications with various health plans for new and established providers as directed and independently at times.
    • Handle any re-credentialing requests from commercial payors.
    • Update databases for tracking of file progress.
    • Communicate enrollment status to leadership and other internal departments for scheduling and billing purposes.
    • Pro-actively track and follow-up with payors to obtain effective dates with the plans.
    • Meet time-sensitive deadlines



    The Credentialing Specialist Qualifications:

    • High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
    • At least two years in healthcare credentialing, patient registration, provider setup, billing or medical policies.
    • Advanced knowledge of applicable credentialing and licensing requirements for medical providers and ASC’s.
    • Experience with and knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, TriCare and commercial payors provider enrollment and credentialing requirements.
    • Resourceful working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
    • Demonstrated problem-solving and customer service skills.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
