    Our Ophthalmic Technicians are a vital part of our clinical team and require the ability to clearly and effectively communicate with a diverse patient base. They are responsible for comforting patients while performing necessary diagnostic tests and measurements that instills patient confidence in their treatment.


    • Initial work up of patients such as gathering chief complaint, ocular and systemic history, past family and social history and complete review of systems.
    • Perform accurate and consistent documentation and measurement tasks to include: Visual Acuity, Manual Lensometry, Confrontational Visual Fields, Stereo Testing, Evaluation of Motility, Pupillary Function Tests, Color Plates, Applanation Tonometry, Advanced Refractometry, Angle Assessment, Dilation of Pupils, Contact Lens Evaluations, Visual Field Testing, Optic Nerve Scanning (i.e. Cirrus and Spectralis OCT), Pachymetry, Corneal Topography
    • Scribe in electronic medical records format to document the patient visit and examination.
      Code for services.
    • Assist physician with laser procedures.
    • Assist physician with minor surgery, maintaining practice standards of sterile technique and infection control.
    • Provide telephone support regarding ocular emergencies, prescription refills and patient care questions.
    • Communicate with reception and location lead ophthalmic technician to facilitate proper patient flow.
    • Assist with other support activities, to include packaging and sterilizing equipment and supplies, ensuring cleanliness of patient exams room and other administrative or clinical duties as assigned.


    • High school graduate or equivalent

    • Minimum 2 years experience as an ophthalmic technician
    • COA or COT certification preferred but not required
    • NextGen EHR experience preferred
    • Willingness to travel between multiple offices inthe DC Metro area
