Ophthalmic Scribe Needed For Our Team

Our Scribes provide accurate documentation and summarization of the ocular examination and recommendations, while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status.




Ophthalmic Scribe Responsibilities:

  • Ability to document and apply correct IDC-9 and CPT Codes.
  • Ability to maintain multiple projects simultaneously, with strong attention to detail
  • Correctly-summarize and document what the doctor says during an examination, including but not limited to, proper charting of the examination: documenting additions to the chief complaint, assessment and recommendations for treatment (including justification of decisions reached when appropriate).
  • Complete billing and verify it  has been submitted.
  • Observe the patient and the physician, and assist when appropriate during the exam, including but not limited to: holding the patient's head in the slit lamp, providing additional medications and/or instruments, following directions in a medical emergency.
  • Make sure all exam rooms are ready and prepped for work up tech to start patients in the morning.
  • Maintain patient flow, by ensuring a minimum of two patient rooms are always occupied.
  • Remain available to the doctor and limit time away from the doctor or patient.
  • Assist physicians with laser procedures, minor surgeries, and maintain practice standards of sterile techniques and infection control.


The Ophthalmic Scribe Qualifications:

  • Possess at least one year of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Experience as a lasik ophthalmic scribe or technician preferred.
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills.
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude.
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
  • Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours.
  • Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting.
