Katzen Eye Group is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant/Diagnostic Technician.  This individual is responsible for providing as well as performing diagnostic tests as required by the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist and administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician. 

Responsibilities

Communication and Patient Care:

  • Uses autorefractor and lensometers (automatic and manual)
  • Performs visual field tests
  • Performs OCT
  • Performs Cell Count
  • Perform B-scan
  • Perform Orbscan/Pentacam
  • Performs Iol Master, as well as Manuel A-sca
  • Performs Fundus Photo
  • Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing
  • Escorts patients to front desk after exam

Administative:

  • Ensures that exam rooms are tidied between patients, including cleaning sinks and sanitizing equipment
  • Cleans all lenses used by doctors
  • Monitors diagnostic schedule to stay on-time of patient scheduling
  • Billing and Coding is billed and ordered

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Knowledge of EHR/Zeiss Forum
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Equipment
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive team member
  • Strong organization with attention to detail
  • Demonstrated computer literacy.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Two years experience in a healthcare setting; ophthalmology preferred
