The Surgical Scheduler/Lasik Counselor performs tasks related to Lasik primarily, along with general office duties.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately perform Lasik surgery testing for patients on specific equipment (ie pentacam, wavescan, autorefract and lensometer).
  • Enter information into medical records system such as vision, refraction and patient demographics.
  • Interact with patients in person and by phone to:
    • answer pertinent questions
    • schedule appointments
    • counsel preoperative and post operative visits.
  • Perform computer related duties such as scheduling, posting, word processing, scanning and medical records.
  • Maintain accurate accounting of patient referrals and database.
  • Assist in performance of general office duties such as:
    • answering phones
    • scheduling appointments
    • rooming patients for doctors
    • helping other team members accomplish there duties

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of a HS diploma with some college preferred.
  • Two or more years of experience in a medical or surgical environment (ophthalmology preferred).
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple responsibilities at one time.
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills.
  • Experience with EMR and EPM.
  • General knowledge of medical conditions affecting eye surgery.
  • Some travel between offices will/may be required.
