The Optical Administrator directly manages all optical dispensaries while performing daily activities.  The Optical Administrator is responsible for ensuring that excellent customer service is offered to each and every optical dispensary patient.  The Optical Administrator will demonstrate and use the best optical and team leadership skills, which will be developed further through training and experience.  The Optical Administrator is responsible for maximizing all associates' potentials and skills.  The Optical Administrator is responsible for controlling the store's expense outlays by ensuring they are kept within company standards.  The Optical Administrator will work cooperatively with customers, associates and ESP personnel, demonstrating that interaction between individuals brings success.

Responsibilities

  • Manage optical associates to promptly acknowledge all patients as they enter the department and physically greet them as soon as practical.
  • Manage optical associates to provide excellent customer service.
  • Manage optical associates to present/sell best product using lifestyle techniques and to offer the patient an opportunity to purchase better products.
  • Aggressively promote the optical store using:
    • Social media announcements
    • Trunk shows
    • Vision screenings
    • Distribution of fliers
  • At all times, knowledge of department's current month and year vs. comp sales for last year is a must, using this knowledge to motivate associates.
  • Provides proper training for all employees to ensure they have the necessary expertise to carry out their jobs.
  • Sets performance standards for tasks, jobs, and roles of their employees.
  • Instruct all associates on the proper way to sign up patients for the online contact lens ordering portal.
  • Monitor "in-stock" contact lenses, frames, and accessories for all locations.
  • Reconcile all monthly vendor statements for all locations.
  • Resolve any billing issues that may arise with regard to any past due or incorrect payments made to vendors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a HS diploma or GED with some college preferred.
  • Prefer 3+ years of experience in retail optical.
  • Prefer 2+ years supervising staff in a retail optical environment.
  • Demonstrates sales experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Healthcare experience a must.
  • Knowledge of insurances is preferred.
  • Experience with EHR and EPM, NextGen is strongly preferred but not required.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Personable and empathetic with patient needs and concerns.
