Delaware Eye Care Centers is dedicated to providing state-of-the-art, individually based, high quality, eye health care. Our doctors are board-certified, skilled ophthalmologists and optometrists that provide a range of services to help our patients attain the clearest vision possible. Our services cover a range of eye problems, including cataracts, glaucoma, retinal disorders, dry eye, and ocular injuries. We have the common goal of ascertaining the most appropriate care for any given patient, explaining the purpose of the treatment, and in initiating said therapy in a courteous and compassionate manner, irrespective of age, gender, nationality, and race or payment program.

 

Our  Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for assisting the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist in the exam lane and to input data into the Electronic Health Record as well as administering treatment as allowed and ordered by the physician. 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

Patient Care:

  • Uses autorefractor and lensometers (automatic and manual)
  • Performs visual field tests
  • Performs OCT
  • Performs Cell Count
  • Perform B-scan
  • Perform Orbscan/Pentacam
  • Performs Iol Master, as well as Manuel A-scan
  • Performs Fundus Photo
  • Monitors patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full after testing
  • Escorts patients to front desk after exam

Administative:

  • Lead the team per instructions/directions from the management team
  • Ensures that exam rooms are tidied between patients, including sanitizing equipment
  • Cleans all lenses used by doctors
  • Monitors diagnostic schedule to stay on-time of patient scheduling
  • Billing and Coding is billed and ordered

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology
  • Knowledge of EHR/Zeiss Forum
  • Knowledge of Diagnostic Equipment

Qualifications

 

  • Possess at least three years of experience in a ophthalmology clinical setting.
  • Possess at least one year of previous lead/supervisory experience in a ophthalmology clinical setting
  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be a well-organized, team-player with great attention to detail.
  • Demonstrate superior computer skills.
  • Highly energetic with positive attitude and an empathetic and compassionate manner.
  • Must be willing to travel to other offices occasionally to meet the demands of business.
  • Must have the ability to establish confidence and trust with patients. 
  • Must have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure or stress.
  • Have the ability to provide excellent customer service, communication, telephone and grammer skills.
  • Knowledge of insurance plans is helpful.
  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Ability to perform as part of a team as well as work independently.
